King Charles will reportedly die “with” cancer, but not “of” it, according to a shocking report published Saturday by the Daily Beast.
The report appears to confirm long-standing speculation that the king’s cancer is being managed, though it remains incurable — a situation common among many older patients living with the disease.
Buckingham Palace announced King Charles’ cancer diagnosis in February 2024, shortly after he underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate.
The palace has not revealed the type or stage of his cancer, nor has it shared details about his treatment. After spending several weeks out of the public eye, Charles returned to royal duties with a visit to a cancer treatment center on April 30, 2024. In March, he was briefly hospitalized due to temporary side effects from what the palace called his “scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer.”
Charles, 76, is once again facing renewed speculation about his health following the report, which is likely to be unwelcome news at the palace. Rumors over the king’s condition intensified recently after Prince Harry admitted in a BBC interview that he was unsure how much time his father had left.
Palace aides have consistently maintained that Charles is largely winning his battle with cancer, and the king himself recently stated he was on “the other side” of the health crisis.
Despite his diagnosis last year, Charles has resumed a nearly full schedule of royal duties, though with some adjustments. The report — written by respected royal commentator and Daily Telegraph associate editor Camilla Tominey — also claims that due to his ongoing health issues, Charles is unlikely to ever take up residence at Buckingham Palace.
The report also noted that, while still in the very early stages, preparations for Charles’ 80th birthday in 2028 are moving forward.
